Physical Therapy is a medical treatment used to improve quality of life through prescribed exercise, hands-on care, and client education. PT can have a profound effect on people’s lives; it can help people achieve fitness goals, regain or maintain their independence, and lead active lives. Physical therapists diagnose and treat individuals of all ages, from newborns to people at the end of life. Many clients have injuries, disabilities, or other health conditions that need treatment. But PTs also care for people who simply want to become healthier and to prevent future problems. Physical therapists examine each person and then develop a treatment plan to improve their ability to move, reduce or manage pain, restore function, and prevent or manage disability.

BIO

Hi there! My name is Ellicia Jacobs and I’m a Physical Therapist who has been treating patients throughout the DMV since 2015. From a young age, I’ve always had a curiosity about the body and through rehabbing my own injuries throughout the years I decided this was career for me. Since the beginning of Physical Therapy school, my passion has been pelvic health and it has fueled my post-graduate coursework in both western and holistic therapies for treating all pelvic floor conditions. My colleagues will tell you I have a real affinity for treating patients with chronic pelvic pain and complex medical conditions based on my ability to link anatomical findings, understand symptomatology, and combine holistic treatments.

I believe in the benefits of using both passive hands-on modalities while also empowering the client to take an active role in addressing their area of need through exercise prescription and creating a sustainable self-care plan for symptom management. I often use an array of techniques that include abdominopelvic release taught by Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute, Visceral Manipulation through the Barral Institute, Craniosacral Therapy through from Upledger Institute, Myofascial Release through John F. Barnes, and Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization from the Rehabilitation Prague School.

I look forward to helping you achieve your goals, no matter the size and aiding in your ability to better understand the messages your body is trying to convey!
